alright listen this is a system journal, the following is a list of people you're probably going to see. yes we're small. we don't have filters or anything of the sort, because if anyone finds this journal without our intending to, then the information we're most concerned about hiding (our status as multiple at all) is out in the open already. however, we're probably going to talk about mental health stuff and past experiences, which can get personal and upsetting. so we'll put those behind cuts.

archer: host and fronts almost all the time. studying animation. loves drawing, writing, video games, tarot reading.

cyrus: grumpy protector guy. doesn't talk much but when he does he can be blunt, it's nothing personal. loves the x files, mythology, and logic puzzles.

henry: came out here to have a good time, and he's going to have one whether you like it or not. loves nature in all its forms, bird emotes o >o , and gallows humour.

opal: new friend. we don't know much about her yet. she's nonverbal but communicates with images and body movements. probably won't post for obvious reasons, unless her abilities change.

--

the body: 20 years old, female-bodied. diagnosed with depression, anxiety, and ADHD-inattentive. also has a birth defect in the hip that fucks up basically everything. lives in boston during the school year and NJ in the summer.

 Greetings everyone, this is Archer.

Everything is going straight to shit, academically and medically. The anxiety and despair is 3real.

So yeah.

So we went to see a doctor today. It was intended to be a psychiatrist, but since we got redirected to another location, we ended up with a general practicioner in emergency care instead - the psychiatry department had closed for the day.

Anyhow, he agreed we needed to speak to a psychiatrist, but also recommended we speak to a sleep doctor and neurologist for the other factors contributing to our sleep problems (the circadian rhythm fuckuppery and the hip thing, namely). We're holding off on a neurologist until we get back to NJ for the summer, but we are going to see a sleep doctor. And we're still going to go back to our usual place on Tuesday and try again to request a psychiatrist appointment.

So like, sure, we slept until noon and missed class again. Which sucks majorly. But I'm going to email the prof and explain to him the situation, as well as tell him the steps we took to resolve it today, so maybe it won't be so bad.

Hey guys. I'm just going to use this space to vent a little bit about some health problems that have been really affecting me/us lately. This involves talk of medication, sleep problems, and depression/anxiety/ADHD. Plus some stuff about our dad, because every problem always seems to come back to our parents in one way or another, I guess.

Shit's scary. It's a lot of extra things to coordinate in the very limited time we have. But as scary as it is, the fear of what'll happen if we don't change something is even worse.

References: what other works of art, cinematic, pictorial, literary, did this film bring to mind, and why?

This movie refers a lot to the black-and-white Hollywood monster movies and “Justice League vs. The Communists!” comics that were popular during that era, and Bird faithfully maintained some aspects of those pieces of media while subverting, analyzing, and commenting on others.
The film’s score, as already mentioned, is directly evocative of the classical and orchestral music genres. If you like the idea of 1950s Americana combined with soul-crushing nuclear apocalypse, but want to see more of the nuclear apocalypse part, consider playing the video game Fallout 3.

...Are we bad people for writing that?

I feel like a bad person for writing that.

It's time again for a list of shit that needs to get done in the near future! Wahoo.
  • Get all the info on what payments need to be made for the apartment, send them to Dad
  • Finish editing HeadNest (oh god we haven't finished editing the HeadNest) by Monday
  • PICK UP MEDS BECAUSE CVS IS BULLSHIT AND WE NEED THOSE TO DO LITERALLY ANYTHING RIGHT NOW
  • Make Kris' walk cycle by Tuesday
  • Shoot the transitions exercise by sometime.
  • Return camera and tripod on Tuesday. And it was 7.
  • Check mailroom tomorrow between 6 and 8 PM, harass them about where the package from our sister went
  • Write that film analysis by Wednesday, also read some article??
  • Do... I think the interactive animation thing by Wednesday, feat. Dogthulhu (he's very cute, you guys would like him)
  • Make a nice draw for Friday
...yeah, our life is pretty hectic right now and shows few signs of improvement.

In other news, I (well partially I, me and Henry were kind of blending at the time) met what appears to be a new headmate or fragment or something? Her name is Opal, and she is a yellow qilin; she looks kind of like this, except with much longer hair and glowing white eyes. Also, you know, yellow. She is nonverbal, but communicates with body language and by sending visual images. She tried to invite us into her house (she has a CRYSTAL LIGHT PALACE, you guys), but it was very difficult to look around inside past the foyer, because our brain kept going like "we don't know the floor plan of this place, make one!!!". Basically, we were told that the Crystal Light Palace (TM) existed, but not what it looked like inside, which was a bummer.

But Opal herself seems really cute and sweet and I, for one, support her. I hope we can learn more about her in the future!

HEY GUYS it me

(me is henry)

nothings really happened in our life the past few days aside from archer miserably doing more homework while i do exactly 0% of it (sry archer)! thats what you get when you go to art school with two people who dont care about art. tho i guess in fairness we werent really active when they got accepted so its whatever

uhhh what else

yeah i got nothin. we were looking at more persona stuff earlier and i dont really know much about p5 but the cat looks cute??? very excited to play a video game w/ a talking thief cat. but thats not gonna happen until the end of the semester like six weeks from now URRRGGGHHH

...i realize this is like exactly the same thing the last post is about but our life is literally just that one-note and boring right now... everyone is like sick of it but what comes after is going back to our family's house in NJ and thats gonna be a whole 'nother barrel of monkeys but at least we have a working tv to play games on there??

EDIT: OH and we sent out some emails to get a cosplay commissioned possibly!!! gonna be owain from back home!! fun fun fun. owain is a cool guy

EDIT 2 (by Archer): Also, follow us on tumblr!

Finally filmed that stupid commercial we've been trying to do forever, and just learned that we actually already did everything we needed for tomorrow's homework, instead of having to dump another 5 hours into it. ...Also, tomorrow Ben and Jerry's gives out free ice cream.

Today is a good day.

(Also been contemplating pre-ordering Persona 5, but really, there's no point. It's not as if we'll have the time to play it in the next six weeks anyway. After a full month, they'll probably have enough stock in the video game shops that we can just walk in and pick it up.)

So, taking a leaf out of a certain other user's book, we figured we'd start up some weekly tasklist stuff to keep track of what we need to get done, and also so everyone else can see why animation is basically self-inflicted art hell. Let's begin!!

...So yeah, as you can see, we're having the time of our lives over here and not overworked/falling behind at all. The only comfort is knowing that in six weeks, this will be all over. We'll be able to go home and kinda relax and maybe, maybe be able to play some of those games we bought like four months ago.

ARCHER: So I guess you just fuckin'... write about whatever happened during your day?

I can dig that. We already kind of have an outlet for that, it's called 750 Words and it's basically a website where you plunk down and try to throw out 750 words of whatever you want every day. You get achievements and shit if you get streaks of days. (...Our highest is 45.) But a lot of that is for deeply personal stuff that no one else is meant to see, which makes anything we put on Dreamwidth pretty different by default -- and also, there's no mandatory length minimum for entries.

[CYRUS: Though that probably won't stop us from talking endlessly anyhow.]

ARCHER: True.

...But to be honest we kinda wound up sleeping most of the day? Our sleep schedule has been fucked to hell and back the past few days because on Wednesday I thought I'd be clever and pull an all-nighter to get my homework done, instead of have to go to bed early so we could actually wake up for our 8AM class but with no homework in hand.

That was a mistake.

So since we said we would possibly do a "what the fuck is going on with this system" post before, and it's midnight and the ADHD meds have stopped working and we can't do anything else, might as well do it now. Just so you know, trauma is part of it, and so this post will dance awkwardly around the topic of emotional abuse and the resulting effects on the victim. Also super super heavy dissociation.
